Shemsi Nuhiu, even though he is the citizen of Kosovo, the official Prishtina hasn’t still demanded his extradition from Suisse police, and according to Mr. Falco Galli – from the Federal Office of Justice in Bern “this is not our job nor our practice that we from Bern to say to Prishtina to do such a request”, informs the National Information Agency “Presheva Jonë”

Shemsi Nuhiu was arrested by the request of a Serbian Court because he used to be a member of KLA and is accused for “allegedly crimes towards the humankind”.
On April 14, 2011, exactly on his birthday, in Vevey of Switzerland was arrested Shemsi Nuhiu. His arrest was done by the Federal Office of Justice requested on the 8th (eighth) of March by the Serbian Embassy in Bern, has stated like this Falco Galli – from the Federal Office of Justice in Bern, making known that the Article 3 of the European Convention for extradition was not given for political offenses. According to the Serbian request, he is a resident of Serbia , who in fact, he is the citizen of Kosovo and not of Serbia , inform our sources confirming by the family members of the arrested man and Bern as well.
“ A Serbian Court charges Shemsi Nuhiu of being the member of KLA in the area of Gjilan who is accused for crimes against the humanity”, continues saying to Information Agency “Presheva Jonë” the official from the Federal Office of Justice. During a hearing held on April 15 this year, Shemsi Nuhiu refused to be extradited to Serbia because he is a resident of Kosovo.
Even though he is the citizen of Kosovo, the official Prishtina hasn’t still demanded his extradition from Suisse police, and according to Mr. Galli, “this is not our job nor our practice that we from Bern to say to Prishtina to do such a request”. The procedure of the extradition of Shemsi Nuhiu, according to the Suisse authorities is getting even further reviewed, but it isn’t still known where he will be sent back, to Serbia or Kosovo.
